The 1940 census records Moses and Ida Shapiro with their sons Hyman, Irving and Joel. Earlier “Israel” wording was a stale misreading. This household matches the established Hyman/Chaim, Irving/Isaac and Yechiel/Jochel/Joel identity bridges. The original census image is not currently retained, so no substitute screenshot is shown.
Other family records identify Irving; this census entry does not by itself settle whether Israel and Irving are the same son.
