Moses Shapiro arrives

The original manifest names Moses Shapiro, 45, last resident Alsedai, occupation “Wever” (weaver) [HIGH], joining “Brother, Nathan Dubinsky, 292 Cherry St., New York, N.Y.” [HIGH]. Its “w.” widow mark contradicts the same row’s wife-left-behind field, “Chaje Shapiro, Alsedai, Apskr. Telsiai,” and later records, so the contradiction is preserved rather than harmonized. Voloshin is the typed birthplace, with Pinsk overwritten as country [MEDIUM].

The record does not settle who Nathan was or what relationship the word “brother” described.
